We constructed several
vertical antennas for 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10m.
Also we used a tape-type
antenna which is easily adjustable for any frequency between 3.5 and 30 MHz.
Due to the tropical storm "Debby" in our area, the noise level on
80m was extremely high, so we could not arrange any contacts. Anyhow, I had
CW-contacts on 7 MHz with European and Asian stations, but as I found later
back home, nobody spotted me in the cluster.
To be honest, Los Frailes is
not the most beautiful place in the Caribbean, BUT it is THE paradise for
divers and snorklers.
Daily, dozens of tourists from all over the world, charter boats from
Margarita Island to enjoy in front of Los Frailes the wonders of the
tropical seas.
THOUSANDS of most colorful
fishes of many species live in the waters around the island for the delight
of all observers. Visitors can snorkel for hours in the calm water without
any dangerous currents.
I even could observe 2 whales
in the morning-hours passing nearby to our place. |
